Coronavirus variants and how long will the world have this virus

Vaccinations are slowly getting underway.  Slower than many would like, but it will take time before everyone has been inoculated twice.

Today we have two links – one to an article about the UK coronavirus variant:

Coronavirus variant B.1.1.7

And one to a National Geographic article about how SARS-CoV-2 will be with us for some time to come in one form or another.

Future global presence of coronavirus

We believe in ensuring that people are as well informed as possible in the hope that they will pass the information on and understand just how vital it is to follow the official guidance:

  • maintain a minimum of 2 metres distance from others
  • wear an approved mask – bandanas should not be used, they actual facilitate virus spreading
  • thoroughly wash hands on a regular basis (at least 20 seconds!).

Until next time,

Variant of Coronavirus

We wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that 2021 will see the coronavirus largely eradicated through mass vaccination.

Today, we have a link to an article about the new variant of Covid-19 – although the actual symptoms are no worse, is regarded as extremely dangerous because it is so very contagious.

Mutated virus

As ever, please adhere to the recommended 3 rules: maintain a minimum of 2 metres distance from others, wear a mask and thoroughly wash your hands on a regular basis.

Possible vaccine for Covid-19

There have been quite a few developments in the research on the effects of Covid-19.  The news that a potential vaccine has been developed by Pfizer is excellent news, but there is a way to go before it’s ready for dissemination.  Meanwhile, here’s an article about Pfizer’s vaccine and its implications:

Possible vaccine

As many scientists and commentators have repeatedly made clear, the vaccine is not with us yet and to mitigate the effects of the second wave of coronavirus it remains vital that people continue to do the three basic steps required to keep themselves and others as safe as possible, wear a mask, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds and keep your distance!

Coronavirus vaccine efficacy face mask variolation theory

Autumn has come around again – leaves are turning and the temperature is getting decidedly cooler.  In many countries, it looks as if we’ll be having a rather bleak winter thanks to the coronavirus.

As Covid-19 shows no sign of diminishing, we have a link to an article that addresses yet again just how vital it is to wear a mask to prevent the spread of the virus as well as to lessen the effects of the disease should you end up getting it after all.  The masks may even be able to help to lessen the effects of the virus in others.  This article explores the implications.

Should you have a flu jab this year? Yes!!

Apologies to our friends from abroad, but the article we’re sharing a link to this week is targeted at UK residents.  It concerns this year’s flu jab and why it’s important to have one.

Mind you, the principle is actually relevant for everyone around the world, but this article specifies who the UK government has said can have them for free, when and how.

We strongly recommend that regardless of whether you don’t fall into any of the mentioned groups or do fall into the 50 to 64-year-olds group, you go ahead and book an appointment for a flu jab absolutely as soon as possible.  The chances of a shortage of vaccines are pretty high.

So get yourself inoculated if you can.

Russian coronavirus vaccine efficacy is questionable

Here at CDS Consultants Medical we always hope to hear about the creation and production of an effective vaccine against Covid-19 as soon as is humanly possible.

Russia is now saying they have one, but they appear to have skipped an important phase in the testing of the possible vaccine. Various leading scientists question its efficacy and, equally vital, its safety.

We thought you might be interested in reading about it in a little more depth.
