Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic Vaccine

Should you have a flu jab this year? Yes!!

Apologies to our friends from abroad, but the article we’re sharing a link to this week is targeted at UK residents.  It concerns this year’s flu jab and why it’s important to have one.

Mind you, the principle is actually relevant for everyone around the world, but this article specifies who the UK government has said can have them for free, when and how.

We strongly recommend that regardless of whether you don’t fall into any of the mentioned groups or do fall into the 50 to 64-year-olds group, you go ahead and book an appointment for a flu jab absolutely as soon as possible.  The chances of a shortage of vaccines are pretty high.

So get yourself inoculated if you can.

You’re Wearing A Mask Every Time You Use A Public Toilet, Right?

Our article of choice this week, although relevant, does not exactly make for pleasant reading.  It’s about how important it is to wear a mask in public conveniences if you want to help protect yourself from getting Covid-19.

Care during & after hospitalisation due to Covid-19

This week we’d like to share a link to an article that is about three weeks old, but extremely relevant.  We deal in PPE, but what happens when this dangerous virus attacks despite all precautions?  This article is about the care given to those who become so very ill with Covid-19 – both while in hospital and afterwards.

Amongst other things, it is certainly a stark reminder of how important it is to wear PPE.

To this end, we’ve added another link this week – the correct procedure for putting on and taking off PPE.  It’s certainly worth a look.

Covid-19 – a personal story

This week we’d like to share an article we found online at LA Times.  It’s by a columnist who usually reports on sports.  This time, it’s about his experience of having a “mild” case of Covid-19.

It serves as a serious reminder to continue to remain on your guard when it comes to interacting with others.  The virus doesn’t care how careful you usually are.  It doesn’t discriminate between those who are usually careful and those who are not.  It’s there, it hits, that’s it.

So please be careful and continue to adhere to the basic guidelines of hand-washing, social distancing and WEARING YOUR MASK!

Russian coronavirus vaccine efficacy is questionable

Here at CDS Consultants Medical we always hope to hear about the creation and production of an effective vaccine against Covid-19 as soon as is humanly possible.

Russia is now saying they have one, but they appear to have skipped an important phase in the testing of the possible vaccine. Various leading scientists question its efficacy and, equally vital, its safety.

We thought you might be interested in reading about it in a little more depth.

No holiday from Covid-19

And here we are starting the last week of July 2020.  What should be the start to carefree holidays for the children and some enjoyable downtime for adults, instead continues to be a case of social distancing, wearing masks and thoroughly washing hands.

Today, we’ve chosen two links that discuss the consequences of this dreadful disease.  Hopefully, they will serve as a stark reminder of just how vital it is that we all continue to be as careful as possible when interacting with others, and ensure that the PPE we use is correct for the job being undertaken.

Dealing with shortages of PPE

This link is to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) in the United States. Regardless of where you may be based, it can be quite helpful to see what experts in different countries have to say about how to deal with aspects of Covid-19 (or any other contagion).

One of the interesting aspects covered here is how to optimize the use of PPE if there are shortages during this coronavirus pandemic.
